So…this past Wednesday night was pretty  amazing. We had a violin player come in and assist with leading worship for the students. This was the first time since our kickoff that we haven’t had the full band leading. Our lighting techs, Tim Cooper and Haley Wilson, did an amazing job with reconfiguring every single one of our stage lights to enhance the environment. I was very pleased with the production side of the evening. Even more so i was pleased with our students response to baptism…We had 1 baptism on Wednesday, Jacob (12th grade). Everything was going normal, pretty much the standard baptism…i took Jacobs confession in front of all the students and his family and then proceeded to go to the back and get ready. I had mentioned to Zach, guitar player for True Story, to say something to the students about how important it was to encourage a new Christian…and so he did…It was finally time for the baptism, Jacob and i were in the water, i said the traditional speech and put him under…..upon his emergence form the water there was a massive uproar of shouting and cheering! It wasn’t something that was loud for  only a moment and then died down, it went on and on…every time it seemed like it was going to stop there was a resurgence of noise. It was something he nor i will ever forget.

I wish that experience for everyone, cheering saying they really were beyond excited about the new addition to the family.

We need more moments like that.

And we will have the chance…4 more additions, baptisms, to come next week!

i cant wait to hear them shouting. a true echo of heaven.

There will be 4 baptisms in the coming week. I am excited to see things (my teaching on Wednesday nights) making sense and not confusing everyone, i find that often things pertaining to Jesus become far to complex. Baptism is one of those things…i strive to keep it as simple as possible. Jesus asked me to do it…i don’t want him mad at me…so i do what im told. I also think there is something mysterious that happens when we emulate Christ…the idea that he felt the same sensation of being immersed under water and coming out with a new purpose in life is humbling…kinda gives me chills. The more often i can feel chills a i do as Christ instructs the better off i think ill be.
